Dulux Trade helps hotel retain that period look
The hotel industry is a competitive one where a slight drop in standards can cost a hotelier that all-important fifth star and allow the competition to steal a march on its customers.
The luxurious Broad House Hotel is a 16th century Queen Anne residence, located in the heart of the Norfolk Broads National Park, one of the UK's leading tourism centres. The boutique country house hotel is set in 24 acres of secluded parkland and provides a welcome retreat, as well as a popular spot for couples getting married.
Caroline Search, co-owner of the hotel, is an expert when it comes to making a hotel successful, and understands that it can be the subtle detail that makes all the difference between a good hotel and a great one. It is for this reason that she specified Dulux Trade Diamond Matt paint for the hotel's recent refurbishment.
Caroline explains: "My husband Phillip and I bought Broad House Hotel last year when it was still a private residence. We have both worked in the hotel industry for many years and wanted to create something really special for this area: a boutique hotel with a personal feel and furnished in a classical style which retains all the heritage and history of the building.
"The dcor of the hotel plays a major role in this and with nine individually furnished and styled suites as well as a bar and library to redecorate, colour played a crucial role in creating its very special atmosphere. We selected colours from the Heritage palette from the Dulux Trade Diamond Matt range, which gave us 120 accurate period colours to choose from, making it the ideal choice for this project."
Available in over 12,000 colours, Dulux Trade Diamond Matt is an extremely tough and washable matt emulsion that uses Dulux Trade Diamond Technology, specifically formulated to make it ten times more durable then vinyl silks. It is resistant to many common stains and will wipe clean without losing its attractive matt finish, making it ideal for use in high traffic areas, such as hotels.
Refurbishing any period building is an expensive task, but with the Dulux Trade Diamond Matt range, which has an extended redecoration cycle, typically lasting five years as opposed to the two to three years of other paints, surfaces look better for longer, saving the owners time and money.
Caroline concludes: "We are delighted with the end result and the feedback from guests has been superb. Dulux Trade has really helped us to create the feel and atmosphere we wanted to achieve."
