As part of its ongoing partnership with Moseley and District Churches Housing Association (MDCHA) and their decorating contractor Hardyman & Co Limited, Dulux Trade has helped the social housing provider to revamp its period housing stock with a variety of innovative internal and external colour schemes that complement the traditional features of its properties.

Many of the properties owned by MDCHA boast architecture from classic eras in British history, and property styles include Victorian, Georgian and Edwardian. Therefore, Andy Baggott, Specifier Account Manager at Dulux Trade, worked closely with Dulux Trade Commercial Colour Consultant, Tiffany Hall, to create a set of bespoke schemes, tailored to suit the period of each property.
Tiffany developed a selection of eight colour schemes for each property type, taking care to ensure that these would all work well together, and would also compliment the neighbouring privately owned stock.
In a bid to get residents involved in the colour selection, the residents were then given the opportunity to select their favourite. Sylvia Crosdale, Maintenance Surveyor, at MDCHA, says: "Inviting the residents to participate in colour selection is one of the best ways to help increase satisfaction levels - after all, its their homes that are being decorated, so it's vital they are happy with the schemes we choose."
As part of his remit, Andy was also tasked with helping extend the maintenance cycles at MDCHA by ensuring that both the internal and external paint would look good for longer. As such, Andy specified the Dulux Trade Weathershield Exterior Gloss System (WEGS), along with Weathershield Masonry Paint for the exterior of the properties. In addition, for the interior, Andy specified hardwearing paints such as Dulux Trade Diamond Matt and Diamond Eggshell, in colours from the Heritage range. Throughout the programme Dulux Trade also worked closely with Hardyman & Co Limited to ensure pre-decoration repairs and preparations were of the high quality required to produce the best possible finishes from the products.
What's more, as part of its partnership with MDCHA, Dulux Trade provides annual training sessions which include advice on colour scheming, and guidance on products to help them fulfil practical requirements, such those set out in the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).
Andy comments: "The fact that MDCHA properties each have a distinct style presented us with an exciting challenge. The schemes that we specified were not only in-keeping with the original designs of the properties, but also provided a durable finish that will stay looking smart for longer.
