Dulux Trade has been used in the refurbishment of the exterior trim at Haddo House, a country estate in the heart of Aberdeenshire. Owned by the National Trust for Scotland, the esteemed building is open to the public during the summer months and is a popular venue for theatrical and musical events all year round.
Due to the nature of the project, the paint specification had to encompass a wide range of considerations, from the conservation of existing building elements to the long lasting protection of the wooden doors and window frames. Working with Hugh Simpson, Specification Account Manager at Dulux Trade, the contractor, Ian Fraser Décor selected the Weathershield Exterior Gloss System (WEGS) for use throughout the estate, including the manor house and concert hall.
Ian Davidson, Lead Surveyor at the National Trust for Scotland, comments: "Haddo House is a popular venue for events and conferences, and first impressions count, so it was very important that the coatings used did not compromise the design of the building."
For a quarter of a century, the Weathershield Exterior Gloss System has been the preferred exterior decorating system for professionals. With a strong brand heritage and a proven track record, appliers can rest assured they are selecting a product that will produce outstanding results, every time. The three part Weathershield Exterior Gloss system offers long-lasting, high gloss protection with up to eight years weathering durability.
Ian Fraser says: "Working on a project such as this demands intricate attention to detail, and the products you choose to work with must live up to the high-standard of the building. We used WEGS, as from previous experience we know it will help us to achieve the best results possible for our customers."
"Aside from the aesthetic benefits of using a premium product such as WEGS, it was essential that the coating used would deliver a weatherproof finish. Using a product which provides long-term protection will help to extend maintenance cycles, ensuring as little disruption as possible to what is a popular tourist attraction."
The flexibility WEGS offers means it is recommended for use on a variety of materials, including exterior wood and metal surfaces such as wooden front doors, windows and metal guttering. The weatherproof paint finish also has a mould resistant paint film, keeping professionals' handiwork looking smart for longer and providing real value for customers.
