Maximum exposure for Dulux Trade on the Hotel Inspector
Dulux Trade has helped to transform a beautiful lighthouse hotel in Wales as part of Five's The Hotel Inspector. Now in its fourth series, The Hotel Inspector targets six struggling hotels across the UK and turns them into successful and profitable businesses through a combination of straight talking and practical advice.
The Hotel Inspector used 100 litres of Weathershield Maximum Exposure Smooth Masonry Paint to paint the entire exterior of West Usk Lighthouse. A 'best in class' product, Dulux Trade Weathershield Maximum Exposure delivers exterior durability and protection in even the harshest and most demanding environments.
West Usk Lighthouse is a unique, cosy bed and breakfast near Newport, Gwent, overlooking the Bristol Channel. Built in 1821 and situated, as would be expected, on a cliff close to the sea, it comes under frequent attack from salt water and the elements. Weathershield Maximum Exposure is both sea salt and chemical spray resistant, and the product's unique properties provide a tough and flexible paint film that is up to five times more flexible than conventional masonry paints, covering hairline cracks and preventing subsequent cracking and flaking.
Dulux Trade Weathershield Maximum Exposure also contains an added fungicide to inhibit mould growth on the paint film, perfect for combating the damp conditions to which the hotel is subjected. It can be applied to surfaces previously painted with masonry paint, and is particularly suited for use in changeable weather conditions because it is shower resistant just 15 minutes after application - ideal for a sea-spray beaten lighthouse!
This series of The Hotel Inspector, which hit screens in June, is fronted by a new inspector, award winning hotelier Alex Polizzi. The granddaughter of Lord Forte and niece of Sir Rocco Forte, Alex has vast industry experience, having worked at the Mandarin Hotel in Hong Kong, the Criterion, and Forte hotels in Rome and St Peterberg. She has the authority needed to turn flagging hotels into successful ventures.
Alex looks at every aspect of running a great hotel, from managing staff to writing the restaurant menus, and from basic hygiene to stylish interior design and impactful exteriors. Enter Dulux Trade. West Usk Lighthouse was painted in Weathershield Maximum Exposure in Pure Brilliant White to give its exterior a lift and provide it with flexible, mould-inhibiting protection.
