Dulux Trade is best by test for the new Downe hospital
An ultra-durable paint from Dulux Trade has been specified for a £64 million state of the art new hospital in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland. Dulux Trade Diamond Matt was compared with two leading competitors' products in a series of vigorous on-site scrub tests and selected by South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust for its superior durability.
With a strong focus on delivering value for money during the construction and across the lifecycle of the building, as a 'best in class' product, Dulux Trade Diamond Matt will keep surfaces looking fresher for longer, resist regular cleaning and require re-painting less frequently - all helping to keep both disruption to patients and costs down.
The washable matt emulsion offers ten times the durability and stain resistance of standard silk emulsions, and will scrub clean without polishing the surface. Its water-based formulation is also inherently low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs), making it a more sustainable choice, but with the performance credentials of a traditional solvent-based paint.
Sympathetic to the existing building, the design of the new Downe Hospital has been inspired by aspects of the surrounding landscape and focuses on the needs of the patients. The old Downe Hospital was held in high regard by the Downpatrick population so, in consultation with the community, the new hospital deliberately combines the relaxed friendliness of a local hospital with cutting edge technology; delivering a facility with high clinical standards that meets the needs of the people who will use it.
