A prime location for Dulux Trade - Portsburgh Square
One of Scotland's biggest regional housing associations has once again turned to trade paint specialists Dulux Trade to provide a range of hardworking products for a large refurbishment in a historic location at the heart of Edinburgh city.
The accommodation at Portsburgh Square required a durable and effective range of products for a multitude of external paint requirements. Owner Hillcrest Housing Association has a long-standing relationship with Dulux Trade as a trusted supplier of high quality trade paint and therefore knew the company would deliver a portfolio of products ideal for the project.
The residential building is situated within a prime tourist location in the city with a view of Edinburgh Castle and the Grassmarket area. Portsburgh Square is located in a major congestion hotspot and as a result of constant assault by pollution and the elements, the buildings were in great need of redecoration.
A range of Dulux Trade products was used on the properties; Weathershield Maximum Exposure Masonry Paint was applied to the external walls of the building because of its 15 year unbeatable protection against all weather conditions. The product was a must-have with Hillcrest Housing Association's property maintenance managers, following a particularly cold and harsh winter in Edinburgh. Weathershield Maximum Exposure is five times more flexible than standard masonry paint and is resistant to chemical spray, providing a barrier to a harsh city environment.
All exterior doors and windows were treated with the Dulux Trade Weathershield Exterior Gloss System. Its unique technology penetrates to seal the wood, preventing cracking and providing protection for up to eight years.
Two well-established specialist paint products were also selected for the project. The Dulux Trade Anti Graffiti System has been used on areas prone to repeated graffiti. This range withstands frequent cleaning, and using the Dulux Trade Graffiti Remover it can eliminate unwanted graffiti in minutes. All external metal work was coated in Metalshield from Dulux Trade, which offers a rapid turnaround on jobs due to its quick drying formula. New barrier technology locks out air and moisture to provide protection for up to eight years.
