WHG chose to trial Pyroshield in 52 different locations across the city after learning that it was free from the hazardous compounds widely used in alternative flame retardant coatings, which can give rise to significant health, safety and environmental concerns. Following successful testing, WHG switched entirely to the Dulux Trade product.
Pyroshield upgrades previously painted surfaces to Class 1 or Class 0, delaying the initial stages of flame spread when occupants may still be making their way to safety. The flame retardant coating system is water-based, quick drying and low odour with a revolutionary new and unique non-hazardous formulation.
WHG's Rob Askew has been delighted with Pyroshield's performance: "Above all Pyroshield is a user-friendly product; it is easy and safe to apply causing the minimum disturbance to tenants. We plan to use Pyroshield throughout Coventry on both low- rise and high-rise properties."
Pyroshield was launched in 2004. It has been tested over the Warrington Fire Research Blue Board, which is the most challenging substrate to work with, and increasingly regarded as the industry standard substrate for a multi-layered paint surface upgrade system. The Pyroshield system has achieved both Class 1 and Class 0 upgrade performance over the Blue Board - the highest in the field.
