Wayne de Wet, of Caister-on-Sea, is in high spirits after scooping the national award for Grand Winner Dulux Select Decorator of the Year 2011. The coveted prize was presented to Wayne at the annual Dulux Select Decorator Winter Ball ceremony, where he also won gold in his category for a painting and decorating project worth between 3,000 and 5,999.

It was Wayne's transformation of a home in Suffolk that won him the category - the project was picked out by the judges from projects and contenders across the country, as it showcased his extensive range of decorating skills and first class craftsmanship. As well as receiving the two prestigious awards and trophies, Wayne was awarded 1,500 worth of gift vouchers. Chris Foster from CF Painting & Decorating, Darren Whitfield, of A Whitfield & Son and Mark Ashworth based in Cheshire, also received accolades as winners of their respective categories.
The official winners title of Dulux Select Decorator of the year competition has now changed to: Grand Winner
Speaking about his wins, Wayne says: "Winning my category was a significant achievement in itself, but to also receive the grand prize of Dulux Select Decorator of the year 2011 was overwhelming. As the very first decorator to apply for the Dulux Select Decorator scheme, I'm proud to say that I'm now entering into my fifteenth year of membership. Being part of the Dulux Select Decorator scheme has definitely helped to make my business stand out.
"This award really is the pinnacle of my 33 year career in the trade, it's great to finally have my work recognised through such a prominent accolade."
Wayne also worked with Naeem Hafeez, Marketing Executive at Dulux Trade, to help organise the Winter Ball event. Naeem comments: "These awards are testament to Wayne and his attention to fine detail. I would like to congratulate Wayne, and thank him for all his support and hard work in helping to organise the Dulux Select Decorator Winter Ball."
The Dulux Select Decorator of the Year Awards is now in its third year. As well as recognising top talent in the painting and decorating industry, it raises significant funds for worthy charities. Through raffles and donations held at the event, the 2010 event raised over 4,500 for Cancer Research UK, and over 1,700 for Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital.
