AkzoNobel, parent company of the UK's leading trade paint brand, Dulux Trade paints, has been ranked in 100th place in the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) league table, putting the company in the top five percent.

The inaugural CRC performance league table, released by the Environment Agency, assessed 2000 leading organisations on how they manage energy usage. This performance therefore reflects the early action taken by AkzoNobel to maximize energy efficiency across the business.
Ann Noble, Head of Sustainability at Dulux Trade, comments: "We are committed to reducing our carbon emissions and becoming the most sustainable paint manufacturer in the industry - so we are delighted to have been placed in the top five per cent of companies in the first Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme league table."
Recognising that operational energy efficiency is crucial, AkzoNobel has implemented extensive sub-metering programmes and operational improvements across the organisation, and has held the Carbon Trust Standard since 2009 across its Decorative Paints business.
Ann continues: "As well as improving operational energy efficiency, we are focused on reducing carbon across the whole supply chain. Our strategy, 'Step Towards Greener', incorporates the total lifecycle of our products, and is based on working with suppliers, customers and cutting-edge thinkers to improve our impact in production, through to the application and end of life system of our products. As a business, we've adopted a three-pronged approach, working to ensure that the economic, social and environmental aspects of the organisation are all sustainably successful.
"While we're extremely proud of everything we've already achieved, including our portfolio of environmental products and services, we are realistic in our plans and do recognise that this is a long term journey, and there is still much to do. That's why we're continually developing plans to deliver long term emission reductions and improve our efficiency across the entire company."
This ranking has set the benchmark for AkzoNobel against which it will make further improvements across the company.
